“Men Can Cry too!!”
I don’t think I will ever understand that the concept of crying is termed as something only women do.
I remember seeing a family on the metro with two small kids, a toddler, and another one 5-6 years old boy. The boy was running in the metro and because of the break, he fell very badly and hurt himself. His father came running to help but the first thing he said to his 5-year-old boy was “Don’t Cry, Boys don’t Cry”, “You are a strong man”, “Man Up”. After some time boy stopped crying even when his eyes were filled with tears.
Our society has categorized men and women in certain
ways. Since childhood Men are told to be stronger and women are referred to as
the weaker. Being strong means being able to bear all kinds of pain without any
fuss. (How rubbish!)
They are humans too, and humans are supposed to have
emotions (At least I think so!). How can you actually tell them men don’t feel
because they are men??
Real men don’t cry
Be a Man
Stop Acting like a girl
Man Up
Quit whining
I guess every boy has heard these words from people
around them, which leads him to distance himself from society. We often see
daughters being so attached to families, friends while boys not caring much or
not paying much attention in family gatherings, they don’t usually share
anything with their families or even friends (Afraid of being Mocked!) and it’s
all because of these stupid unsaid society rules.
Men do cry, they do feel everything, they talk, grieve and have tons of emotions always overflowing in their minds and hearts. But sadly, not to you. (Always alone!)
This leads to causing stress, depression, suicidal thoughts, and all of the little to big mental problems.
We don’t understand how dangerous it is to bottle up all your feelings because no one cares! (Because It’s a Girly thing to cry, to share problems!!). Study shows that men are most likely to commit suicide than women. Why? Because they’re taught to “man up” or keep in their emotions because expressing emotions is referred to as “Being Feminine” or termed as a sign of weakness. (Which is absolutely Shit thinking process)
So Dear Boys,
If you want to cry, just cry. If something makes you so
angry, you’re in tears, then just let it out, If you are happy and have tears
of joy, let them all out. Sometimes all we need is just a good cry whether it
is Boy or a girl, it doesn’t matter.
We need to understand that suppressing emotions is not at
all manly, it is harmful. Crying Man is not feminine; Crying Man is not weak;
Crying Man is a human with emotions. The only thing I hope is next time you see
a Boy crying just be with him, there for him, instead of mocking him.
Don’t restrict your tears just because someone will term
you as weak or not man enough. It is completely okay to let out all your
burden, stress through tears. You will definitely feel better. (Or maybe bit
lighter!)
An emotional or sensitive man isn’t weak. He is
comfortable expressing his emotions and vulnerability to those who he trusts.
Don’t hurt yourself by keeping everything inside.
Very well concluded... good observation
